English Language Arts
As a former student of the Boston Public School system, I am proud to have the opportunity to teach our inner-city kids as I once was. I have earned a bachelor's in English and a master's degree in Education at the University of Massachusetts Boston. In the summers I enjoy working for ESY and as a side job, I work with Greater Boston ABA Associates, an at-home clinical service for children who are on the autism spectrum. “Selfless giving is the art of living.”– Frederic Lenz
I have been at TechBoston since 2009 when the middle school was added. I have been teaching for a really long time and love working with young people; they keep me on my toes and keep me young. TechBoston is an amazing school to be at because it is a place where everyone feels cared for, is a member of a positive community, and can reach their potential and be celebrated for their success!
I am excited to join TBA for my 12th year teaching. I have done middle school English and history for most of my career. When I am not teaching I love cooking, watching old sitcoms, and hanging out with my family. My favorite book is called "Polly's Ghost" by Abby Frucht closely followed by the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes".
I am a 7th grade mathematics teacher and this is my fifth year teaching at TechBoston Academy. I earned her Bachelor's degree in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics from the University of Maine, Orono in 2015. I then participated in the Teach Next Year, where I earned a Masters degree in education in 2016. I am dedicated to creating a mathematical learning environment that is rigorous, relevant, engaging and fun!
Ms. Boekholder has been teaching at TechBoston Academy since 2012. She has an undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in Environmental Science and American studies, and an MS in Education from UMass Boston. The thing she loves the most about her job is the energy, curiosity, and scholarship she sees in all of her students.
I love science. I love learning how the world works, exploring nature, making observations, and asking questions. This is my 12th year at TechBoston Academy, and I am excited to explore the world with our new 6th graders. I live just across the Neponset River with my wife Emily who is a 4th grade teacher and his kids, Maya (2nd grade) and Sam (1st grade). I enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, gardening, cooking, and reading. My family enjoys doing some of those things too.
Ms. JB has been in education since 2012. She loves to incorporate democratic science teaching into her classroom where students have voice and shared authority. She enjoys Project-Based learning and finding ways get her students excited about STEM.
